UFC Fight Night Ottawa could have its main event.
Ariel Helwani of ESPN reports that the company is finalizing a light fight between Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Al Iaquinta to recite the May 4 card at the Canadian Tire Center.
While nothing has been signed, Helwani notes that the combat was verbally agreed by both fighters.
Cerrone (35-11-1, 22-8 UFC) was recently attacked in a fight with former champion Conor McGregor, but no fight agreement was signed. Cerrone, 35, who holds the absolute record for victories in the UFC, was the last to deal with the UFC Fight Night Brooklyn in January, where he defeated Alexander Hernandez in the second round of the TKO.
Iaquinta (14-4-1, 7-2 UFC) fought for the vacant light title last spring, losing a unanimous decision on Khabib Nurmagomedov at Brooklyn UFC 223. The 31-year-old Iaquinta appeared for the last time in the UFC Octagon on the FOX event last December in Milwaukee, when he defeated Kevin Lee by unanimous decision.
Among the struggles already signed for the paper, is Elias Theodorou from Toronto who meets Derek Brunson at the middleweight, Richmond, BC Arjan Bhullar in a heavy fight with Juan Adams and Sechelt, BC Sarah Moras with bantamweight .
