Harald Martenstein: About Transport Policy | time Magazine

How could you explain German politics to an American or British? I take transport policy as an example. In Germany it is said that one should drive as much as possible, because of the environment. The politicians say it. The newspapers write it. Be eco! Think of the future of humanity! To get closer to this goal, a sustainable moving nation, the enigmatic train runs are becoming more and more expensive. At the same time the trains slow down, if they drive at all. Our German trains can handle heat badly, and they tolerate cold bad, and the train toilets have problems with being used.
