A 34-year-old man was shot dead in the center of Liverpool while waiting outside a dance school for his daughter, police said.
Emergency services were called at Holy Cross Close on Thursday at about 8:00 pm to receive notifications of shots.
On arrival, the police discovered the victim who had been declared dead on the spot.
The husband's daughters attended a children's dance lesson at the nearby Marybone Youth and Community Center.
Det Chief Supt Mark Kameen of Merseyside Police told ITV Granada reports: "His daughter was in that dance school at the time and has come out and seen her father after the attack, we believe.
"This is a young child who probably has to deal with that experience for the rest of her life."
The scene has been turned off for forensic investigation and witnesses from the area are spoken.
CCTV in the vicinity of the recordings is also checked.
The police would like to speak to anyone who has seen a black Ford Fiesta car close to the scene.
A comparable vehicle was later found at 20:15 on Thursday at the nearby Summer Seat, Vauxhall.
I want to reassure the public and we will thoroughly investigate all the information so that we can speak to everyone who carries weapons behind bars on the street to anyone who has seen the incident or who has information about it, to come in contact.
