Mercer County deputies arrested Christy Moore and Corey Moore on Thursday.

According to legal documents obtained by WVSN, Christy Moore brought the child to first aid, where doctors said the boy weighed only 14 kilos and was malnourished. The boy was pale and did not respond and died before doctors could transport him to another hospital, the television station reported.

The Moores told the researchers that the boy fell ill in early November and lost between 14 and 18 pounds, WVSN reported. They admitted to the researchers that they had made a mistake by not seeking medical help before.

"It's one of those things that can easily be averted and all the programs that are out there, especially in Mercer County," main responsible Joe Parks told WVSN. "I really do not see how anyone can excuse it as a parent," Parks said.

More complaints could be made about the three brothers and sisters of the deceased boy, the delegates reported to the television station.
