New Delhi: Eight trainers from Mumbai-Bhubaneswar Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express derailed near the Nergundi train station in Odisha’s Cuttack on Thursday morning, wounding 20 people. The accident occurred when the passenger train hit a freight train possibly due to low visibility due to dense fog.

The Public Relations Director (CPRO), East Coast Railway, said: “Twenty people were injured after eight trainers from Lokmanya Tilak Express derailed near Salagaon. So far no victims have been reported.”

Authorities said the exact number and nature of the injuries were being calculated, but that medical assistance to injured passengers was the first priority.
