New York Stocks: Market Close – Slight Losses

by Archynetys World Desk

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – Investors on the US stock exchanges became more cautious again on Tuesday in nervous trading. After the previous day’s recovery, the most important indices closed slightly in the red. Investors continued to follow the news about the Iran war and reacted with uncertainty to the sharply fluctuating oil prices.

US Energy Secretary Chris Wright in particular caused confusion. He had announced on Platform X that the US Navy had successfully escorted an oil tanker through the Strait of Hormuz. However, this tweet was deleted shortly afterwards, and a little later the White House officially denied the report.

The leading index Dow Jones Industrial closed 0.07 percent lower at 47,706.51 points after temporarily rising by one percent. The market-wide S&P 500 fell by 0.21 percent to 6,781.48 points. The Nasdaq 100 fell slightly to 24,956.47 points./la/mis
