Following the announcements of the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel BLANQUER, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, and Roxana MARACINEANU, Minister Delegate in charge of Sports, detail the new measures which come into force for sport from Saturday 20 March 2021.
The degraded health context leads the government to take additional measures which apply from this Saturday, March 20, in 16 departments *.
However, in these areas as everywhere in France, sporting activity, considered a necessity for the physical and mental well-being of everyone, is preserved.
Also in these 16 departments, individual sports practice remains possible outdoors, without time limit but within a radius of 10 kilometers around your home, in compliance with the curfew between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. and with proof of home.
People residing in other departments cannot go to the 16 departments under surveillance beyond a perimeter defined by a radius of 30 kilometers around their home.
In general, the existing measures for the practice of physical and sports activities outside school time continue in France but with distance restrictions adapted to people who live in the departments subject to the reinforced measures or who wish to go to France. one of these departments.
On the other hand, the government decided to resume physical education and sports throughout the country. Schoolchildren will therefore be authorized to practice in covered facilities (swimming pools, gymnasiums, etc.) in compliance with the applicable protocols which have just been sent to rectors by the ministry.
For the sports practice of minors
The government’s choice was to preserve the youth. Physical and sports education has been systematically maintained outdoors. However, the need for physical and sporting activity is absolutely essential for young people.
Also, Jean-Michel BLANQUER and Roxana MARACINEANU are pleased that the EPS can resume normally indoors and outdoors in compliance with the applicable protocols. Suspended for 2 months, learning to swim can therefore resume for all school audiences.
In the extracurricular and extracurricular context, and despite reinforced vigilance measures entering into force in a total of 16 departments, sports associations are authorized to continue their activities for minors but only outdoors:
in the public space (within the limit of 6 participants including the educator), in outdoor sports facilities with no limit on the number provided they are supervised. However, the curfew (throughout France) and the 10 km limit around the home (only in the 16 departments) must be respected.
For the sport of adults
Individual sports practice remains possible in public spaces as well as in outdoor sports facilities without any time limit. However, it is limited to a radius of 10 kilometers around the home for the 16 departments concerned by the enhanced vigilance measures.
Everywhere, the curfew must be observed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The practice supervised by a club or an association is also possible in respect of the curfew (return home at 7 p.m. maximum). It is limited to 6 people (educator included) on public roads. On the other hand, if the activity is supervised, no limitation of the number of adults in the outdoor sports facilities.
For priority audiences
The following priority audiences: professional athletes, high-level athletes and other athletes registered in the Federal Performance Project, people in university or vocational training, schoolchildren, people with an APA medical prescription and people with disabilities recognized by the MDPH as well as the supervision necessary for their practice, retain access to all sports equipment (outdoor and indoor).
However, as is already the case, only professional athletes, high level athletes, people in professional training as well as the supervision necessary for their practice, will be authorized to waive the curfew now fixed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as part of their travels to access sports facilities, go to or cross one of the 16 departments (with compulsory certificate).
Regarding sports educators
Sports educators retain the authorization to waive the curfew, only for their professional activity, that is to say to supervise professional and high-level athletes.
