As of today, new rules come into force for those arriving in Bulgaria from countries in the “red zone”. Any Bulgarian citizen who does not submit to the border health control authorities a negative result of a coronavirus test performed up to 72 hours before entering the country, or a vaccination certificate, is subject to a 10-day quarantine. This was announced by the Ministry of Health.
As of today, by order of the Minister of Health Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, the list of countries by color zones and countries for which there is information about a significant negative change in the epidemic situation is updated. Cyprus, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Spain, Fiji and Kuwait are already in the red zone. Citizens of these countries will not be allowed on the territory of Bulgaria. The ban is also valid for tourists from these countries. An exception is made only for Bulgarian citizens arriving from there.
Citizens from Russia and Portugal will enter our country with a negative PCR test, done up to 72 hours before arrival. Those who do not have one will be subject to a 10-day quarantine or must send a negative PCR test result by email within 24 hours of arrival.
As of today, children up to 12 years of age, arriving from the green and orange zones, are allowed on the territory of Bulgaria without submitting documents for vaccination or coronavirus disease, BNR writes.
The chief state health inspector explained that the PCR test is an additional mechanism that will be applied to arrivals from countries that pose a threat. This ensures, in his words, that the person has not developed or is not a carrier of the disease.
“The European vaccination certificate gives much more freedom of movement, especially within the European Union. Exceptions are the countries that have reached high morbidity – Cyprus, Great Britain and Spain. The movement from all other countries, with the presence of such a certificate, is free “, added Assoc. Prof. Kunchev.
The order, especially in the part prohibiting the entry of British citizens in our country, worried the hoteliers in Sunny Beach, because until yesterday Bulgaria was in the Green Zone for Great Britain.
“Immediately after receiving the decision of an open office and admitting their citizens to Bulgaria, we received more than 50 reservations of British citizens, and the average stay was about 14 days,” said manager Alexander Alexandrov.
All holiday reservations in July on the Bulgarian southern Black Sea coast were canceled immediately.
“The state is doing the exact opposite of what it needs to do for the tourism industry. The British market is very important for resorts like Sunny Beach “, explained the chairman of the Union of Owners in Sunny Beach Plamen Kopchev.
The hoteliers are demanding that the order be reviewed so that it does not interfere with their business.
