However, a recent report suggests that some of these advanced camera features may not be exclusive to the S25 Ultra. These new options could reach Samsung’s older Galaxy models through an upcoming One UI update.
New Camera Features for Older Galaxy Smartphones
According to reports from SamMobile, Samsung’s One UI 7.1 update is expected to enhance the camera capabilities of older Galaxy devices. Among the features up for inclusion are a suite of ten new filters, including six with a vintage aesthetic like Soft, Sharp, Intense, Subtle, Warm, and Dark. Users will be able to customize these filters with settings for color temperature, contrast, and saturation, adding a layer of personalization. Additionally, AI-based custom filters will be available, designed to automatically match the environment in photos for optimal results.
LOG Format and HDR Video
One UI 7.1 may also bring LOG format recording to older Galaxy devices, aligning Samsung with Apple’s offerings. This feature enables high-definition video recording up to 8K at 30fps, suitable for use with 3D LUT applications for precise color grading. Another notable addition is 10-bit HDR video, supporting both compatibility and detailed visuals through Hybrid Log Gamma and HDR10+, ensuring that older devices can capture stunning video content.
Virtual Aperture Control and Digital ND Filters
The update is expected to introduce virtual aperture control, allowing users to adjust depth-of-field from F1.4 to F16, a feature previously unavailable on older Galaxy models. Samsung will also add in-built digital ND filters at 2048 and 4096 levels, offering creative possibilities for photography and videography.
Motion Photo and Single Take Features
Similar to Apple’s Live Photos, Samsung’s Motion Photo feature captures a split-second of footage before and after taking a photo, preserving the moment in greater detail. Another addition is the Single Take with Time Machine tool, which captures 5 seconds of video before a shot and allows users to simultaneously record 12-megapixel still photos with video. Both of these features are set to be available on older Galaxy devices, enhancing the user experience.
