A wave of protests has erupted in kathmandu, nepal, as young citizens rally against the government’s recent ban on 26 major social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube and WhatsApp. The demonstrations, initially sparked by the digital restrictions, have grown into a notable youth-led movement, reflecting deeper frustrations with corruption and political instability.

Demonstrators, largely comprised of teenagers and young adults in their 20s, gathered outside Parliament, chanting, “shut down corruption, not social media.” Attempts to breach barricades near Singha Durbar, the government’s headquarters, were met with tear gas, rubber bullets, and water cannons from the police. A curfew was later imposed across parts of the capital.
