MINSK, September 14. / TASS /. The talks between the presidents of Russia and Belarus Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko will be held in Sochi in a one-on-one format. This was reported on Monday by the BelTA agency.
According to him, the leaders will discuss the state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, topics of union relations, consider international issues and the situation in the region, issues of joint response to emerging challenges.
This is Lukashenka’s first foreign visit since the presidential elections, followed by massive protests in the republic. Russia, unlike a number of Western states, recognized the results of voting in a neighboring country as legitimate. The visit of the Belarusian president to Russia was preceded by intensive preparations, including a trip to Minsk in early September by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. According to Lukashenko, during his meeting with Putin, it is planned to finally dot the “i’s” on the most sensitive and painful topics for the two states.
