National day of mourning in Israel after a deadly mass panic

Tel Aviv: Israel today commemorates the victims of the mass panic with a national day of mourning. As the Israeli radio reports, the flags are set at half mast – in public buildings, military bases and diplomatic missions of Israel around the world. Planned concerts and sporting events have been canceled. – On Thursday evening, more than 100,000 people celebrated the Jewish “Lag Baomer” festival on Mount Meron. There was a mass panic. 45 people died in the crowd, including several young people and children. The incident has been classified as the worst civil catastrophe in Israeli history.
