A man in his 20s in Agra, India, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old female niece.
The Times of India and other local media reported on the 3rd that the Folko Court in the Hathras region of India recently sentenced A, a man in his 20s, to 20 years in prison after being indicted on charges including rape.
Mr. A was put on trial on charges of repeatedly sexually assaulting his female niece, who was only 11 years old. It was found that Mr. A’s crime resulted in his niece becoming pregnant.
Judge Chitra Sharma explained the reason for the heavy sentence, saying, “The defendant committed a heinous crime against a young girl,” and “Such a crime can cause a loss of trust in society and lead to the collapse of society.”
It was determined that Mr. A’s crime began in March 2024. The victim girl’s mother later learned of her daughter’s pain and filed a complaint against Mr. A in May of last year.
As a result of the investigation, Mr. A committed the crime after luring his nephew when no one was at his house. After the sexual assault, he tried to silence the girl by threatening, “If you tell anyone what happened today, I will kill you and your brother.”
The court sentenced Mr. A to 20 years in prison and a fine of 50,000 rupees (about 800,000 won). Mr. B, who was also brought to trial on charges of helping Mr. A commit the crime, was found not guilty due to lack of evidence.
