The Promotion Regulatory Board (ARB) discovered that MTN marketing text messages sent to customers about their Double Your Bundle deal ended up deceptive.
The self-regulatory human body has purchased MTN to withdraw the ad or give the advertised deal.
The ruling will come right after customers complained about text messages they been given from MTN, which mentioned the carrier was managing a marketing on its voice package, which it claimed would double the moment allotment.

However, complainant Makhosini Kekana did not have accessibility to the advertising and mentioned that he would not have obtained the bundle if he hadn’t been given the advertising text concept.
“Complainants contend that the marketed give was not out there and did not exist,” the ARB wrote in its report.
“The complainant further stated that he purchased airtime and would not have bought it if he experienced not been misled by the text information advertisement.”
MTN responded to the ARB, declaring the ad was not misleading.
Nevertheless, the cellular operator admits that there might be a database mistake in the course of the rendering system or an error in the concept despatched to the customer.
The ARB thinks that the advertisement sent to Kekana violated the Advertising and marketing Code of Observe.

“MTN will revise its promoting to ensure the clarity of all applicable contractual commitments,” it explained.
“MTN will also provide on trade promises to affected clients at the advertised price.”
