Morgan State Women’s Track and Field Team Secures Three Top-15 Performances at Penn State National Open

Morgan State University’s women’s indoor track and field team recently showcased their talent at the Penn State National Open, a key collegiate athletics event held at Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. The Lady Bears emerged with three notable top-15 performances, reinforcing their competitiveness in the indoor track circuit.

Highlight Performances

In the long jump event, graduate student Tia Jackson excelled, placing third overall with a leap of 19-7.50 (5.93m). This jump not only positioned Jackson among the elite performers but also set a new personal best for the season.

Although not among the top-10 in the 200-meter dash, Harris placed 34th with a time of 26.09 seconds and competed valiantly in the 60-meter dash preliminary rounds, crossing the finish line in 7.89 seconds to place 40th.

Team’s Upcoming Challenges

The Lady Bears will soon transition to the next phase of their competition season, heading to Lynchburg, Va. to participate in the Darius Dixon Memorial. This event, hosted by Liberty University, is scheduled to take place from February 14-15, 2025.
