The Ministry of Education was pronounced this Friday, May 13, 2022, regarding an electrocuted student who died in an educational institution in the north of Quito. Through a statement, the State portfolio said that the causes of the event that occurred on Thursday the 12th at said campus are being investigated.
The statement says that after the accident, the campus authorities contacted relatives of the deceased student and the ECU911as part of the routes and protocols that must be activated for these cases.
“Currently, the timely investigationsby the competent authorities, to clarify what happened”, reads the document.
The Ministry says it is carrying out several Actions. One of them is the suspension of classes in the institution until having a technical solution in the infrastructure. This is to prevent safety of the educational communitysays the statement. It also points out that in order to ensure the right to education of the students, it was arranged that the classes go virtual.
technical personnel of the Risk Management area of the Undersecretary of Education of Quito is in the institution with workers of the electric company of the city. With this, the Ministry says that it seeks to accurately identify the problem registered in the infrastructure of the campus and provide the necessary solution.
Likewise, the statement indicates that the Department of Student Counseling (DECE) is giving emotional containment to the educational community. “We already started with work tables with the families of the institution.” In addition, they point out that they are coordinating with the Police and Legal Medicine for the corresponding reports.
“The Ministry of Education maintains a space for permanent dialogue. We have activated our entire contingent to provide the support that corresponds, investigate and clarify the fact, carry out the correctives necessary, continue to support family members and the educational community and provide official information in a timely manner”, reads the statement.
