Metalor: Marin Investment Amid US Expansion

by Archynetys Economy Desk

Even if Metalor plans to produce more gold on its site in the United States, the company will not relocate its Marin (NE) site. According to the general manager, the company will instead invest between 40 and 50 million francs in ten years.

For Metalor, it would not be a problem to produce in the United States some of the gold bars intended for the American market, declared Nicolas Carrera, general manager, in an interview with Arcinfo published on Saturday.

“We have a site in Attleboro, Massachusetts, where we have invested, in particular, in the automation of production, but also to develop a PGM (platinum, palladium) line. Projects launched before the discussions on customs duties,” specified the CEO.

The Swiss site retains its role in banking refining

However, the Neuchâtel site should not fear relocation. “All the bank gold that passes through Switzerland will not be processed elsewhere, it is simply unthinkable. It is also in Marin that we will put into production our system for refining rhodium, ruthenium and iridium, metals that have become strategic for new energies, defense, pharma or automobiles,” added Nicolas Carrera,

Metalor will also modernize the silver refining unit, which will allow it to double its capacities. In ten years, the company plans to invest 40 to 50 million francs in Marin.
