The United States is seeing a rise in measles cases, while Texas shows signs of recovery. Meanwhile, outbreaks continue in parts of Canada and Mexico.


WASHINGTON – The united States has reported 122 new measles cases this week, with the majority occurring outside of Texas. Outbreaks have been officially announced in the states of Pennsylvania and Michigan.

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday that 1168 measles cases have been confirmed across the United States.

“Health officials in the state of Texas, where the largest outbreak of the country erupted in the late winter and spring, said that they will now publish the outcome of cases once a week only – in another indication that the outbreak is on it’s way to retreat.”

There are three other large outbreaks of the disease in North America.

The province of Ontario, Canada, is experiencing a critically important outbreak, with cases reaching a high as mid-october until June 3rd.A death was recorded on Thursday of a child who suffered from German measles syndrome and had pre-existing health conditions.

The Canadian province of Alberta has witnessed another outbreak, with 761 people affected as of Thursday. The Mexican state of Coyoa has recorded 1940 measles cases and four deaths as of Friday, according to state data.
