A Community in Mourning: The Lapu Lapu Festival Tragedy

Vancouver’s vibrant filipino-Canadian community is reeling after a devastating incident at the Lapu Lapu street festival on Saturday. A 30-year-old vancouver resident drove a black SUV into the crowd, resulting in the deaths of nine people. The incident occurred around 8:14 PM local time (3:14 AM GMT Sunday) as the festive day was drawing to a close.

While investigations are ongoing, Vancouver police have stated thay are confident that the incident was not an act of terrorism. The driver is currently in custody, adn authorities are working to determine the motive behind this horrific act.
