The man who went missing at Julianadorp this afternoon and subsequently washed ashore died, the rescue service tells a reporter from the NOS.
It is a 37-year-old man from Poland. He wanted to save three children from the water. The children, not those of the Pole, were brought to safety, but the man was not seen afterwards.
Later the man washed ashore. He was resuscitated and taken to hospital where he died.
According to the Rescue Brigade and the Coast Guard, there were dangerous rip currents in the sea at Julianadorp this afternoon.
