Man arrested for animal abuse in El Paso

A man was arrested and charged with animal abuse after authorities found a canine “covered in blood” at a residence in Socorro.

According to the Socorro Police Department, the events occurred on July 27 when agents went to the 1000 block of Half Moon Way and found a dog wrapped in a “white shirt covered in blood” at the bottom of the abdomen.

According to authorities, the canine was inside a doghouse and was found to have a serious infection in the area.

Socorro police said the dog was transported to El Paso Animal Services for treatment.

As a result, authorities determined that the dog had been neglected for a long period of time.

The owner, Hector Ortiz, 39, was arrested for animal cruelty and booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on a $ 10,000 bond.
