Mairéad’s Triumphal Funeral: Tributes Paid in Galway

On February 14, 2025, Mairéad passed away peacefully at Caiseal Geal Nursing Home in Galway. She leaves behind a loving family and a community of friends who will deeply miss her. Mairéad was the beloved wife of the late Paddy and a loving mother to her late daughter Brenda and her youngest son, baby Michael. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Christina and May, and her brothers Ambo, Paddy, and Johnny.

Mairéad will be deeply mourned by her son, Padraic, who resides in Dublin, and her daughter Martina Collins, who lives in Athenry. Her sister Bridie, brother-in-law Andy, and her daughter-in-law, Cait, will also deeply miss her. She leaves behind a loving support system of grandchildren, Shane, Niall, Padraic, Brian, Avril, Eimear, and Laura, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Arrangements

Monday, February 17, 2025

Visitation will take place at the Church of the Holy Family Funeral Parlour, Mervue, Galway from 5 p.m. with the removal taking place at 6:30 p.m. to the adjoining church.

Tuesday, February 18, 2025

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Mairéad at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. For those who cannot be present in person, a live-streaming link for the Mass is available here.

Following the Mass, Mairéad will be laid to rest in Rinville Cemetery in Oranmore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul if desired. You can donate via this link: https://www.svp.ie/donate/.

Celebrating Mairéad’s Life

Mairéad’s life was marked by love, community, and devotion to her family. Her spirit and kindness touched many lives in Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon, and beyond. Her passing leaves a significant void, but her legacy will continue to influence those who knew and loved her.
