TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has agreed on the election of Arsjad Rasjid as Chairman of Kadin for the period 2021-2026 and Anindya Bakrie as Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kadin.
“One is the chairman of the Advisory Council, namely Mr. Anindya Bakrie, the other is Mr. Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry,” said Kadin Chairman Rosan P Roeslani during a virtual press conference after meeting with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi at the State Palace, Monday, 28 June 2021.
The agreement was reached based on deliberation for consensus. As a result, the two candidates for general chairman agreed to serve as chairman in different positions. The results will also be brought to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Conference which is scheduled to take place on 30 June – 1 July 2021.
Rosan said the dynamics of selecting candidates for the General Chair of Kadin were quite high but still conducive. The three, including Rosan, also continue to meet to discuss the best options for Kadin, including in the future.
Arsjad declared himself a candidate for Chairman of Kadin for the period 2021-2026 on Friday, March 26, 2021. At the beginning of the nomination, he admitted that he was supported by Kadin members from 20 provinces.
In the declaration, Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi, Minister of Investment Bahlil Lahadalia, and Chairman of the Advisory Council of Kadin MS Hidayat also publicly expressed their support for the President Director of Indika Energy.
The two ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet each had their reasons for expressing their support for Arsjad. For example, Bahlil said that Arsjad could be the government’s strategic partner in the economic recovery period after the Covid-19 pandemic. Given, the Commissioner of Grab Indonesia is considered good at communicating and smiling.
