Leicester are reportedly close to a breakthrough in their quest to sign Odsonne Edouard after beating West Ham in the race to sign the Celtic striker.
Edouard has been linked to a move to King Power Stadium to meet former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers. The forward is about to enter the final year of his contract at Celtic and wants a new challenge. Leicester seeks long-term successor to Jamie Vardy and elevated Edouard to complement Kelechi Iheanacho.
TEAMtalk exclusively revealed earlier this month that Leicester were increasingly sure to sign Edouard this summer. There is a lot of competition for his signature, but the Foxes believe they have won the race.
It recently emerged that they were 5 million pounds below Celtic’s asking price. There were also claims that suggested Edoaurd could watch the last 12 months of his contract at Parkhead and go out for free next summer.
However, it is now claimed that they have made a compromise with Celtic to sign Edouard and it now appears that they will sign him soon.
Edward scored 22 goals and provided six assists in 40 games in 2020/21. And Foxes boss Rodgers will hope the addition of the forward will further boost the Foxes’ team that will compete in the Europa League next season.
The good news doesn’t stop there for Leicester either. According to Football Insider, they are also close to deals for Ryan Bertrand and Boubakary Soumare.
Earlier this month it became known that the Foxes they were emerging as contenders to sign Bertrand. He is available for free this summer, having reached the end of his contract at Southampton.
Now it looks like they’ve won that race with the 31-year-old stepping in for veteran Christian Fuchs.
Leicester is also about to announce the signing of Soumare for 25 million euros.
Lille and the Foxes were reported last week to have reached a ‘full agreement’ that will see the midfielder move to the Premier League.
SoumareThe 22-year-old has been drawing a lot of attention with his displays as Lille edged out PSG for the Ligue 1 title.
However, his medical examination will take place this week and he should be confirmed as a Leicester player shortly thereafter.

Edouard rejected Liverpool
However, there is no doubt that the prized signature of the lot appears to be Edouard.
One club Edouard won’t end up with, it seems, is Liverpool. Reports last month claimed that Jurgen Klopp had called him personally, but the talks were unsuccessful..
There were rumors of a possible trade agreement between Edouard and Divock Origi. However, that will not materialize.
Anfield Central reported that the Frenchman told Klopp that he was not sure where he would fit in in his attack. Klopp currently has four options at his disposal in Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.
And despite looking like a possible replacement for Firmino, it appears Edouard didn’t qualify his prospects. As such, the former PSG youth politely declined Klopp’s advances.
However, it would not be a surprise to see Edouard make his way into the Premier League.
