Anastasia Rochane Honored as First Latvian Woman to Reach 100 National Team Matches

The veteran player and captain of the Latvian national team, Anastasia Rochane, will be celebrated before the game against Northern Macedonia for reaching a milestone of 100 appearances for her country.The team is currently competing in the UEFA Nations League.
The Latvian women’s national football team is gearing up for two important matches. First, they will face Northern Macedonia, followed by a home game against Kosovo on June 3.
In Febuary and april,the Latvian team participated in the first leg of the UEFA Nations C League tournament,achieving two away victories against Kosovo (1-0) and Northern Macedonia (2-1). Currently, Latvia leads their group with six points and has a chance to advance to the B League.
The winner of each C League subgroup will be promoted to the B League. Additionally, the two best runners-up will compete in October against the two best third-placed teams for another chance at promotion.

This is the second season of the UEFA Nations league for women’s teams.In the inaugural season, the Latvian team finished second in their C League subgroup, behind Malta, Andora, and Moldova. Even though they initially qualified for the B League, they were defeated by Slovakia. Consequently, in the subsequent European Championship qualifying round, the Latvian team competed in the C League, where they finished ahead of North Macedonia and Moldova but were unable to advance past slovenia.
This season’s UEFA League of Nations will determine the distribution of teams across leagues for the 2027 World Cup qualifying cycle.
