Linguistic Talents Recognized in EU Translation Competition
For the first time, students at the Alexandrinum Gymnasium participated in the prestigious Juvenes Translatores
translation competition, organized by the EU Commission.This year’s competition saw participation from approximately 3,000 students across all EU member states. Five students from the 2007 cohort at Alexandrinum took on the challenge, translating a complex, single-page text from either English or French into German. The entire competition was conducted online, requiring students to demonstrate both linguistic precision and cultural understanding.
The students’ efforts were rewarded with official certificates and tokens of thankfulness, acknowledging their dedication and skill in navigating the intricacies of language translation. This achievement underscores the importance of language education and cross-cultural dialog in today’s globalized world.
Table Tennis Team Advances to national Finals

(Youth Trains for Olympia) competition, a table tennis team from Alexandrinum high school, comprised of Sophie Schirm, svenja Schirm, Elina Meyer, Nele Dümmler, merle Dümmler, Julika Wetzig, Lily Carl, and guided by their supervisor Diana Atzpo-Dien, has achieved remarkable success. Their exceptional performance has earned them a place in the national finals, scheduled to take place from May 18th to 22nd. This accomplishment reflects the students’ hard work, teamwork, and dedication to their sport.

competition is a nationwide event in Germany that promotes sports among young people. It is one of the largest school sports competitions in the world.
Albertinum Students excel in European Competition
The european Competition in Germany, a long-standing event with 72 years of history and attracting between 70,000 and 90,000 participants annually, saw notable success for students from the Albertinum. This year’s competition, themed Europe? But sure!
, encouraged students to explore and express their perspectives on European identity and values.
Thirteen students from grades 5 to 10 at the Albertinum were honored with state prizes for their outstanding work. Among them, Rebekka Reith received a rare federal prize for her innovative altered book project, created from old sketchbooks. Her achievement, along with those of her classmates, highlights the school’s commitment to fostering creativity and critical thinking about European issues.
