Lance Stroll Cleared to Race in Canada After Hand Injury

The Aston Martin driver will compete in his home Grand Prix after undergoing a medical procedure.

MONTREAL – Lance Stroll has been given the green light to participate in the Canada Grand Prix this weekend. This proclamation comes after he experienced pain in his hand and wrist, which caused him to miss the GP of Spain. The Aston Martin Formula 1 team confirmed the news on Wednesday.

“I am excited to return to the wheel with the team for my grand prize at home this weekend. I was always going to fight hard to be ready to run in front of the multitude of Montreal,” said the Montreal native in a statement issued by his team.

According to Aston Martin, Stroll underwent a “accomplished medical procedure to solve symptoms” and also completed several laps in France this week using an older F1 car to prepare.

“I feel good after my procedure and I gave some laps in Paul Ricard this week to prepare myself,” said Stroll, 26.

The specific hand that was causing Stroll pain was not disclosed by the team. He had previously mentioned experiencing pain for six weeks, with doctors believing it was related to a medical procedure from 2023 following a cycling accident where he suffered fractures and a broken finger.

So far this season, Stroll has accumulated 14 points, while his teammate Fernando Alonso has faced challenges, securing only two points.

Aston Martin was unable to replace Stroll in the Spanish Grand Prix because he had already been designated for the race.
