[November 24, KOREA WAVE]Kim Geon-hee, wife of South Korean President Yoon Sung-yeol, had a pleasant talk with Rachel, wife of Kenyan President Ruto, at the presidential office in Yongsan on the 23rd. They exchanged views on common concerns such as the prohibition of abuse and climate change issues.
“There are many similarities between South Korea and Kenya, such as the size of the population of about 50 million people and warm national character,” said Rachel.
Kim explained the diligence, solidarity, and passion for education of the Korean people, and introduced the “Saemaeul Movement” to overcome poverty.
“We must think together to create a world where humans and animals can coexist,” Kim said to Kenya’s people and animals, which are suffering from one of the worst droughts in 40 years.
“The worst droughts have killed animals and food shortages have left some students unable to walk and out of school,” she said, emphasizing the seriousness and importance of climate change.
