The New England baseball community is mourning the sudden death of Salisbury School coach Kevin Huber, who passed in his sleep at the age of 50 on Tuesday.
The cause of Huber’s death has yet to be determined. He leaves his wife, Celina, and college-aged children, Timothy and Sara.
Huber took over as head coach at Salisbury in 2017, looking to carry on a proud prep school tradition fostered by legendary coaching predecessors like Dan Donato, Mark Leavitt, and John Toffey. He led the Crimson Knights to Western New England Prep Baseball League championships in 2018, 2022, 2023, and 2024, posting a cumulative record of 113-33 over the eight seasons.
Huber’s contemporaries across the baseball coaching community were devastated by the news. The coach attended a Zoom meeting for WNEPBL coaches just last week, and appeared healthy.
