Kazakhstan will cancel the program of moral and spiritual education “Self-Knowledge”

The Ministry of Education has prepared an order to invalidate the program of moral and spiritual education “Self-Knowledge”, Zakon.kz reports.

To recognize as invalid the order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 29, 2018 No. 522 “On approval of the program of moral and spiritual education” Self-knowledge “, – the document says.

The draft order is posted on the Open NPA website until October 5.

“Self-knowledge” is a program that defines the goals, content, as well as innovative ways of functioning of the system of education and training, ensuring the harmonious intellectual, moral and spiritual development of students.

It is aimed at strengthening the moral and spiritual aspect of the content of additional education and extracurricular activities; activation of interaction of organizations of formations with public organizations, creative unions on issues of moral and spiritual development of the individual.

The program is used in kindergartens, secondary schools, organizations of technical and vocational education, and universities.

In February 2022, the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported that the National Academy of Education introduced a project to transfer the compulsory subject “Self-Knowledge” at school to the category of electives from the next academic year.

It was decided to remove the subject from the compulsory program as part of updating curricula and measures to reduce the teaching load on schoolchildren.
