TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Provincial Government or DKI Pemprov now has the authority to fix train stations in the Capital City area.
DKI Governor Anies Baswedan said the authority to manage train stations in the Jakarta area was obtained after he asked President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.
“We thank you (convey) Mr. President. Mr. President if we manage transportation but do not have the authority, it is difficult to ask Jakarta to manage stations in Jakarta. Fortunately, the President is the former Governor of DKI,” said Anies on Thursday, March 1, 2021.
According to Anies, the DKI Provincial Government’s request to the central government regarding station management was straightforward.

When asking President Jokowi, Anies said the impact of the congestion was because the station management was not in accordance with the congestion handling plan carried out by DKI Jakarta.
“So (Jokowi) heard directly, ‘Yes, I also used to have a headache handling the station doors,” said Anies imitating Jokowi.
Even though the station management is under the DKI Provincial Government, Anies said that the railway management is still held by the central government through PT Kereta Api Indonesia or KAI.
Now with the management under the DKI Pemprov, train stations can be integrated with buses and other transportation facilities managed by DKI.
“When you get off the train you can immediately connect to the bus,” said Anies.
Previously, DKI had revitalized the Tanah Abang Station area, Senen Station, Sudirman Station, and now the one currently running is Gondangdia Station.
