Ceva Embarks on Innovative Disability Inclusion Project

Empowering Autonomy: A New Vision for disability Inclusion in Ceva

Teh Municipality of Ceva, in collaboration with the Montana Union delle Valli Mongia, Cevetta, Langa Cebana and Alta Bormida Valley, and the Social-Assistance Services Centre of the Monregalese, is pioneering a transformative project aimed at fostering autonomy and social inclusion for individuals with disabilities. This initiative, fueled by resources from Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), seeks to redefine support systems and create meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities within the community.

Repurposing Spaces: The Ex-ILSA Building as a Hub for Innovation

A important aspect of this project involves repurposing a section of the ex-ILSA building, specifically the area above the police headquarters, which has been granted to the Montana union for free use. This space will serve as the central location for the Paths of Autonomy for People with Disabilities project, an initiative accredited with PNRR funds. The project falls under Mission 5 “Inclusion and Cohesion,” Component 2 “Social Infrastructures, Families, Community and Third Sector,” Subcomponent 1 “Social services, disabilities and social marginality,” and Investment 1.2 -“Autonomy paths for people with disabilities.”

Tailored Support: Fostering Independence Through Technology and Training

The core objective is to facilitate job placement and promote autonomous living for individuals with disabilities. The project will initially focus on two groups, totaling 12 individuals, primarily those with intellectual disabilities, from the Ceva and Mondovì areas. Participants will engage in activities within spaces provided by project partners, including the renovated ex-ILSA building.

The renovated apartments will be equipped with workstations and participants will receive training on essential IT skills. The integration of home automation systems, social connectivity technologies, and remote support tools will enable constant monitoring of well-being and facilitate new methods of video assistance. Moreover, the project includes work placement and social inclusion internships, designed to progressively reduce reliance on external support and cultivate greater autonomy, ultimately leading to sustainable employment.

Financial Commitment: Montana Union to Oversee Maintenance and Operational Costs

the Montana Union has committed to covering all ordinary and extraordinary maintenance expenses for the assigned property, including utilities, condominium fees, and insurance costs. This financial commitment underscores the Union’s dedication to the long-term success and sustainability of the project.

A Vision for the Future: Redefining Community Engagement

According to recent data from the World Health Association, approximately 15% of the global population lives with some form of disability. Initiatives like this one in Ceva are crucial for addressing the systemic barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from fully participating in society. By focusing on autonomy, inclusion, and access to employment, this project sets a precedent for other communities to follow.

The identification of premises in the ex-lsa for the realization of the activities,it also allows a redevelopment of the praim real estate of our municipality.
