A traffic stop on Sunday night in Jefferson City resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of nearly a quarter pound of methamphetamine. The incident occurred on Highway 50/63.

according to court records, an officer initiated a stop of the vehicle due to excessively tinted windows.The driver, identified as Joseph Houser, 44, of Freeburg, was reportedly slow to stop.Katherine Rice, 33, of Jefferson City, was also in the vehicle.

The officer noticed that Rice was allegedly attempting to conceal her face with a hoodie and refused to identify herself. Meanwhile, “Houser was allegedly rummaging through bags in the front seat.” The officer, aware that “Houser was known to sell narcotics and was frequently enough armed,” requested backup.

“The pair continued to refuse to exit the vehicle until they were forcibly removed.” A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of “113.60 grams of methamphetamine, along with a small amount of meth in a separate cellophane bag, along with drug paraphernalia.”

House and Rice were charged Monday with accessory to second-degree drug trafficking and resisting arrest. Both are being held with no bond.
