James (Jimmy) Reilly, a beloved presence in Curlawn, Caherlistrane, Co. Galway, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the University Hospital Galway (UHG), surrounded by his loving family. His passing marks the end of a life full of love, joy, and cherished memories.

A Family Legacy

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife Marian (née Davin), children Brian (living in Australia), Noel (based in Kilgarriff), and Linda Smyth (now residing in Grange), his daughter-in-law Julie, son-in-law Alan, and their precious grandchildren: Dylan, Claudia, Georgia, Erika, Rayah, Noella, Hannah, Zoe, and Mia.

His family is also mourning the loss of his parents, Tim and Nora, who preceded him in death.

A Community Remembered

Jimmy was deeply loved by his brothers John Joe, Michael, Patsy, and Christy, his sister Marian Monaghan (living in Ballycurrin), as well as his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was cherished by his nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbors, and friends who all offer heartfelt condolences.

Jimmy’s gentle soul has deepened the bond within his family and community. As friends and family come together to celebrate his life, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those he loved.

Funeral Details

Visiting times for Jimmy have been arranged for Monday evening at Carey’s Funeral Home, located at Headford (H91 E6X9), from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm.

The Removal will take place on Tuesday morning, proceeding from his home to the Church of Mary Immaculate and St. Joseph in Caherlistrane (H91 E4X6). There will be a Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by burial in Donaghpatrick Cemetery.

To honor Jimmy’s life, the Mass will also be available for viewing live at www.churchtv.ie/caherlistrane.
