Asked on Threads about his thoughts on The Fantastic Four amidst fan comparisons, Gunn responded, “They come out two weeks after us, there’s room for us both! I love my friends at Marvel. You can find whatever discussions you’d want to find online. I’d focus on all the positivity around the films instead of getting sucked up in online fan wars.”

James Gunn’s background includes important work wiht Marvel, where he wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy series. He also has ties to DC, having written and directed the 2021 film Suicide Squad.

Currently, Gunn co-leads the DCU reboot with Peter Safran and is credited as the writer, director, and producer of Superman. Their goal is to guide the DCU toward greater success than its predecessor, the DCEU, with several DCU projects already in progress. This sets the stage for future face-offs between DC and Marvel properties.
