Celebrating a Decade of Japanese and Pop Culture

The Pontivy Congress Palace is set to host the 11th annual Jap and Co Convention on May 24th and 25th, 2025. This year’s event, coinciding with the manga title We are eleven!, promises an immersive experience into the vibrant worlds of Japanese culture and pop culture. Organizers anticipate drawing crowds similar to previous years, with approximately 3,000 attendees expected to participate in the festivities.

This year’s convention boasts an impressive lineup of guests, including prominent figures from television, voice acting, and the cosplay community. The convention is set to provide attendees with unique opportunities to engage with their favourite personalities and gain insights into their respective fields.

Nostalgia with Jacky from Club Dorothée

Jacky, a beloved icon from the Club dorothée era, will be present throughout the weekend. Attendees can look forward to hearing anecdotes and reliving cherished memories from the golden age of youth television. This promises to be a highlight for those seeking a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

The Art of Voice Acting: Maik Darah and Emmylou Homs

The convention will also shine a spotlight on the world of dubbing, featuring Maik Darah, the renowned French voice of Whoopi Goldberg, and Emmylou Homs, best known for voicing Elsa in Frozen. Attendees will have the chance to learn about the intricacies of voice acting and participate in exclusive Q&A sessions.

The cosplay scene will be well-represented by talented artists such as Sikay, a professional costume designer; Summit, known for sharing cosplay tips and techniques; Annshella, celebrated for the high quality of her costumes; and Panda Craft, a specialist in Disney-themed cosplays.

The Cosplay Competition: A Showcase of Creativity

A central event of the Jap and Co Convention is the cosplay competition, which is open to all attendees. This competition serves as a platform for enthusiasts to display their creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for their favorite characters. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their costumes on stage and impress the judging panel.
