What are the tie-breaking criteria?
Taking into account that Italy wins today against the USA and that Mexico beats Italy tomorrow, these are the criteria to consider to know the two teams classified for the quarterfinals.
Direct result (Head-to-Head): The team that won the match between the tied teams obtains the best position.
If three or more teams tie: The team that has won the most games against each other (or the one that lost the most, for last place) is ranked first/last.
TQB (Team Quality Balance – Quality Quotient): It is calculated as (Runs Scored / Offensive Outs) – (Runs Allowed / Defensive Outs). Whoever has the highest TQB advances.
Earned runs allowed (ER-TQB): Lowest average earned runs allowed divided by defensive outs.
Batting average: The team with the highest batting average in the games among those involved.
