Ibagué Mayor’s Office arrived at Plaza La 28 to strengthen good hygiene and waste management practices
During the ‘Environmental Squad’ activity, merchants were guided on compliance with protocols and proper handling of products.
With the purpose of strengthening sanitary and environmental conditions in the collection centers, the Mayor’s Office of Ibagué held a day of inspection, awareness and support in Plaza de La 28.
During the activity, the ‘Environmental Squad’ and the Ministry of Health conducted tours of the different sales positions to verify the conditions of food handling, product storage and compliance with hygiene protocols by the merchants.
Likewise, pedagogical guidance was provided to improve the correct conservation and handling of the food sold in this supply center.
Likewise, special emphasis was placed on the proper disposal of waste, promoting responsible garbage management and correct classification through color coding, in order to promote practices that contribute to caring for the environment and maintaining cleaner and safer spaces for merchants and visitors.
“The purpose of this event is to improve cleanliness in the market squares. That is why a socialization was carried out with the personnel who operate in the square, with the aim of improving the disposal of waste, the management of the color code and the use of the same,” said Humberto Leal, director of Environment, Water and Climate Change.
For her part, the Secretary of Health of Ibagué, Yennifer Guzmán, highlighted the importance of these actions to protect the health of citizens: “We carry out inspection, surveillance and control actions, but also pedagogy with merchants, because proper handling of food and compliance with health standards is essential to prevent diseases and guarantee safe products for Ibagué residents,” the official concluded.
