Whether it is because you are going to purchase a vehicle second use or because you are going to rent said car for a business or for private transport, you will be able to access – in detail – the information and characteristics of said vehicle.

MORE INFORMATION: How do I register a car that I own?

How? Through the virtual platform Vehicle Consultation that the National Superintendency of Public Records (Sunarp) has enabled for this purpose.

As explained in the registry entity, it is a “Service that allows the user to have direct and reliable access to certain data related to the characteristics of the vehicles registered at the national level, as well as the owner or owners of the vehicle”.

To access this platform you can do so from any computer, laptop or mobile device (Smartphone, tablet or Ipad) that has internet access.

The access is free and it can be done from the email address 24 hours a day.

To make your query, it will only be necessary to have, as the only requirement, the license plate number of the vehicle of your interest since in the main window of the platform you must enter that number.

Then you will have to click on the box “I am not a robot” and finally on the red button “search”.

But, you must bear in mind that only one search is allowed – as the platform itself warns – every two minutes.

“Dear user, only one search is allowed every 2 minutes. Please wait. His last search was carried out at… “, it will be a message that will appear in case the time necessary to carry out a new search has not passed.

Once you have entered the license plate number you want to check, All the information on the vehicle owner’s property card will appear.

In this way you will be able to obtain information on the license plate number (current and previous), vehicle serial number, vehicle identification number (VIN number or 17-digit character set assigned by the manufacturer), engine number, color, brand, model, state, annotations and headquarters.

In the case of “status”, this field will appear filled only if the vehicle is found to be theft, while at headquarters the district of registry office where the vehicle is registered will be entered.

What’s more, the full names of the vehicle owner (s) will appear.

As indicated in the unique digital platform of the Peruvian State, this service “facilitates the development of vehicle transfer operations, and helps to counteract illicit and criminal acts that affect citizen security and the assets of vehicle owners” .

For that reason, it is advisable to consult the data of the owner of a vehicle, especially when buying a used one.

According to the National Police of Peru (PNP), In Metropolitan Lima alone, around 25 vehicle thefts are reported per day.
