How Austria prevented a major fire against Italy

Cool drinks, chips and snacks – what was part of the basic equipment in thousands of apartments and houses in Austria on Saturday evening did not stop at the volunteer fire brigade in Sitzenberg-Reidling (Lower Austria, Tulln district).

Several firefighters met at the operations center to keep their fingers crossed for David Alaba, Marko Arnautovic and Co. While football Austria was trembling and after a good 60 minutes, it turned out to be a premature cheer, the fire brigade helpers were already busy with their job.

A fire broke out in an inn in the community at the same time as the Austrians played in the last sixteen. Since the firefighters were already in the fire station, they were able to call out a minute after the alarm had been received in the control center.
