«Today, one of the important areas is the popularization of sports among young people, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the improvement of students. Regularly, our students go to regional competitions, where they win prizes. About 70 of them are part of the teams of the Krasnodar Territory. We are proud of our athletes and are ready to support them in every possible way. To encourage active students who regularly participate in competitions, several educational organizations have approved increased scholarships“, – said the head of Sochi, Alexei Kopaygorodsky.
During 2022, teams from 15 educational institutions of higher and secondary vocational education competed in eight sports as part of the Universiade. In total, more than 600 students took part in it.
The first place among universities was taken by Sochi State University, the second place was taken by the Sochi branch of the All-Russian State University of Justice, and the third place was taken by the Sochi Institute of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Among colleges, the winner was the University College of Economics and Technology of the Sochi State University, the second place was taken by the Sochi College of Multicultural Education, and the College of the Sochi Branch of the All-Russian State University of Justice came in third.
In 2023, the Universiade competitions will be held from February to May and from September to November. At the request of students, the program will be changed. It will also include cross-country skiing, computer sports and the fulfillment of the standards for the types of tests of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”.
In order to popularize sports among students, intra-university competitions and sports days are held. In many educational organizations, sports sections function on an ongoing basis. Also, students always actively participate in city and district competitions.
Systematic work is underway to register students on the official website of the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex “Ready for Labor and Defense”, as well as to increase the number of students involved in passing the TRP standards.
Another form of popularization of sports is the participation of students in large-scale sports events as volunteers and spectators.
