In terms of music, 2018 was a massif success. The industry has generated new artists, countless achievements and an abundance of shocking titles.

We were treated to all the things about Ariana Grande, including the video back to the past that we never imagined we needed, Eminem who started to lot of fights, Migos on Carpool Karaoke and, of course, the sexual scenes of the vulgar and strangely specific Beatles, sure to leave a disturbing image burning in your mind.

Let's not forget the highlights of Canadian music. From the indigenous singer Jeremy Dutcher who won the Polaris Music Prize for the exhilarating brutal break of Toronto's doom metal band, Witchrot, our nation has had a lot to offer in 2018.

Here are some of Canada's greatest triumphs in the music industry this year.

When Shania Twain dominated the CCMAs

Friend, he feels like a winner.

Shania Twain, 53, not only hosted the CCMA, but won the most awards of the evening, four to be precise.

The legendary country singer was the second artist to win the Generation prize.

Rush has recognized the funniest air drummer of all time





Although the video has been captured in the United States, it is likely that this man is indeed an honorary Canadian citizen.

After an unexpected split with Selena Gomez, Abel Tesfaye (better known as The Weeknd) released his most heartfelt music to date.

Fans who are still recovering from Starboy (2016) were paved by the EP offer of this year, My Dear Melancholy.

Tesfaye is back with the model Bella Hadid and after many reflections, it seems that he is back and better than ever. He also teased his next fourth album at the start of this year, which is expected to fall in 2019.

When The Beaches got the recognition they deserve

This all-female rock band from Toronto has had enough years. After more than a year dominating the Canadian charts, The Beaches earned a Juno Award as Breakthrough Group of the Year.

Not only that, but they have played two of their biggest shows to date. Just last month, they played a sold-out show with the Glorious Sons at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

To raise the ante, they opened for the Foo Fighters who allowed them to play in front of 50,000 people at the Rogers Center – home of the Blue Jays.

Drake's numbers put Canada in the right place – on top

The numbers came out last month and Drake overtook the streaming platforms Apple Music and Spotify with the most listened album, Scorpio (2018).
