PHOENIX – A Silver Alert was published Sunday evening for an 83-year-old man with Apache Junction dementia.
Floyd Jenkins Jr. was seen for the last time near Ironwood Drive and Broadway Avenue, according to the Arizona Department of Public Security.
The DPS said that Jenkins' conditions have worsened in recent weeks due to the death of his wife, and that reportedly he made suicidal comments to neighbors before leaving the area.
Jenkins was driving a 2001 gray GMC Sierra pickup with an extended cabin, gray hood and Michigan CLG158 license plate.
DPS described Jenkins as a 5 foot 7 white male weighing 155 pounds with gray hair and gray eyes.
DPS said that Jenkins crossed the US-Mexico border at San Ysidro port in San Diego at 2am Sunday, returning to the United States with two people.
Jenkins' family confirmed that there is no known relationship between Jenkins and the subjects, identified by the Apache Junction police as Cassandra Ersery, 21, and Henry Portillo, 40.
Police said Ersery has a protective order against Portillo.
Anyone with information was invited to contact DPS at (480) 982-8260.
