Hamas Returns Final Recovered Bodies | DW News

The International Committee of the Red Cross received two coffins with the bodies of two Israeli hostages in Gaza on Wednesday night (10/15/2025), while Hamas, a group considered terrorist by the European Union, the United States and other countries, assured that it can no longer locate any more.

“According to information provided by the Red Cross, two coffins of deceased hostages have been transferred to its custody,” the Israeli Army confirmed in a statement, in which it indicated that it expects to receive the coffins from Gaza for transfer to Israel.

The handover of these two bodies adds to the seven hostage bodies handed over by Hamas previously, after an Israeli forensic institute said that an eighth body did not correspond to any of the 28 dead captives.

Commitment fulfilled

For its part, Hamas assured that it has fulfilled its “commitment to the agreement” and said that it has already handed over all the “living Israeli prisoners in its custody, as well as the corpses to which it was able to access.” “As for the remaining bodies, great efforts and special equipment are required for their recovery and extraction,” Hamas added in a statement broadcast on its official channels.

There are still 19 bodies of hostages to be handed over, in exchange for at least 360 bodies of Gazans killed during the offensive – 90 of them have already been returned to Gaza by the Army – as established in the agreement.
