Andrei Rublev and Grigor Dimitrov will make their staff debuts in opposition to Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in Montreal on Tuesday.

Krawietz/Mies survives Kubott/Wawrinka problem

Grigor Dimitrov and Andrei Rublev made spectacular debuts for the doubles staff on Tuesday.

The singles star defeated Wimbledon champions Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 to advance to the second round of the Countrywide Bank Open Presented by Rogers. Dimitrov and Rublev will now try out to get down second seed Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.

Two-time Roland Garros winners Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies overcame the rough test of Lukasz Kubott and Stan Wawrinka. Germany fought in match tiebreaks 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.

In the other doubles, Rohan Bopanna and Matoe Middelkoop defeated Karen Khachanov and Denis Shapovalov 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-6. The Indian-Dutch duo’s future opponents are Poland and his staff of Hubert Hürkacz and Janzie Linski.
