Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, issued a decision to amend Article (2) of Ministerial Resolution No. 351 of 2012 regarding determining the fees stipulated in the Psychiatric Patient Care Law.
The amendment stipulated that an entry fee for treatment in mental health facilities provided for in the Psychiatric Patient Care Law No. 71 of 2009 shall be obtained, at a rate of 100 pounds (one hundred pounds) for each case of admission to treatment. “
The old text of the article recognized that fee for non-governmental mental health hospitals only, on the condition that the patient’s stay in the hospital exceeded one week.
The old text also exempted from the payment of this fee charitable establishments or that provide service free of charge to patients without any compensation.
The decision was based on Law No. 51 of 1981 regulating medical facilities. And the Psychiatric Patient Care Law promulgated by Law No. 71 of 2009 and its implementing regulations.
It also relied on Presidential Decree No. 242 of 1996 organizing the Ministry of Health and Population; Ministerial Resolution No. 239 of 1997 issuing the basic regulations for hospitals and medical units belonging to local administration units, and Ministerial Resolution No. 351 of 2012 determining the fees stipulated in Law No. 71 of 2009 referred to; And based on what was presented by the head of the central department of the Technical Secretariat of the National Council for Mental Health.
