Gentleman (in his 60s) dies just after suspected strike-and-run in Co Tipperary

A man has died soon after a suspected hit-and-operate incident in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred in Clonmore, Templemore, in the early hrs of Monday morning.

Soon just after 1am, police been given reports of a male, aged in his 60s, noticed on the facet of the R433 near the village of Clonmore.

The person was later pronounced lifeless at the scene.

The man’s system remains at the scene and the road will continue to be shut this early morning to allow technological inspections of the location.

Police are pleasing for any one who could have witnessed the incident to appear ahead.

A spokesperson explained: “Any highway user who was driving in the place amongst 1am and 1.20am on Monday and who may perhaps have digital camera footage (such as dashcams) is kindly requested to present it to GardaĆ­.

“Anybody with any information can call Thurles Garda Station on 0504 25100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”

Investigation is ongoing.
