Generali‘s Dialog Insurance Undergoes Major Leadership Reshuffle

Extensive changes at the top signal a new direction for the broker insurer, focusing on growth and innovation.


Sweeping Changes at Dialog Insurance: A New Chapter Begins

Dialog Insurance, a key player in Generali’s broker network, is set to experience a notable leadership overhaul effective April 1, 2025. This restructuring involves multiple key personnel changes, with Tamara Pagel stepping into the role of CEO, consolidating leadership across Dialog’s life and general insurance arms.

Tamara Pagel Appointed CEO: Unifying Leadership

Tamara Pagel will assume the CEO position, taking over from Uli Rotaufe (Dialog Lebensversicherung) and Roland Stoffels (Dialog Versicherung), who previously managed the respective companies alongside their roles within Generali Germany. Pagel’s extensive background within Generali Germany since 2009,most recently as Head of Prevention Services and head of the CEO’s office,positions her to leverage her expertise in product growth,marketing,and sales to drive Dialog forward.

According to a company proclamation,the 40-year-old is primarily intended to bring in her expertise in the topics of product development,marketing and in sales.

New Leadership for Damage and Accident Business

Further bolstering the leadership team, Tanya Waeber, previously responsible for cyber insurance, will now head the damage and accident business at Dialog Versicherung. She succeeds Martin Schenk, who temporarily held the position while also fulfilling his duties at Cosmos Versicherung and Generali Germany. This appointment comes at a crucial time, as the cyber insurance market is projected to grow substantially, reaching an estimated 41.5 billion U.S.dollars worldwide by 2031, according to Statista.

CFO Appointment: Strengthening Financial Oversight

Daniel Spooren will take on the role of CFO, adding to his existing responsibilities as Head of Accounting and Taxes at Generali germany and board member of Generali Deutschland Health Insurance. Spooren succeeds Edoardo Malpaga and Nils Heise,who previously held the CFO positions at Dialogue life Insurance and dialog Versicherung,respectively,along with their group-level responsibilities.

Departures and New Directions

Alongside Malpaga,Heise,Stoffels,and Rotaufe,Melanie Kramp-Gerstner will also be leaving the board of Dialog Insurance on April 1. The company has not yet disclosed information regarding their future endeavors. Michael Reinelt, who joined Dialog Insurance in January as sales director, has assumed obligation for customer and sales service.

A Vision for Growth and Innovation

The new management team, including Neven Rebic and Ulrich Ostholt, aims to drive profitable growth in the broker business, focusing on biometrics, company pension schemes, and the damage and accident segment. Stefan Lehmann, CEO of Generali Germany, expressed confidence in the new lineup, emphasizing their extensive insurance expertise and knowledge of sales and customer service management.

This restructuring reflects a broader trend within the insurance industry to adapt to changing market dynamics and customer needs. According to a recent report by McKinsey,insurers are increasingly focusing on digital conversion and customer-centricity to remain competitive.
