Gazzetta dello Sport – Sarri and the difficulties in the locker room: the frost with Chiellini

The difficult relationship between Sarri and Juventus players, including CR7: the Lusitanian did not like the tactics and indications of the coach.

After thirteen months of ups and downs, Maurizio Sarri is no longer the coach of the Juventus. Yesterday’s announcement, after the words of President Agnelli, was not received as a surprise. Probably not even in the locker room, which never seemed to have built a solid and potentially lasting relationship with the coach.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, in fact, Sarri would never have been able to enter the hearts of several Juventus players, including players. The spark did not strike. Tension escalated into one vent in the locker room after Cagliari-Juventus, a championship already won.

With the veterans, the relationship would have been difficult. Giorgio Chiellini, for example, he would have always felt very distant from the style of the Tuscan technician. Between the two it would come to ice, for some unwelcome behavior by the Juventus captain.

Also with Cristiano Ronaldo the relationship never seems to have really taken off as hoped, despite CR7’s numbers this season are better than those of his first year at Juventus. The Portuguese would not have liked the extreme link to Sarri’s tactics, so much so having also told him ‘no’ at the first meeting, when the coach proposed him to play as center striker.

In the end of season message posted on Instagram, the ex Real Madrid did not mention Sarri, actually thanked only by Bonucci. While Douglas Costa also put ‘like’ the Juventus post announcing the exemption.

In addition, some disagreements, such as Ronaldo’s reaction after the substitution against Milan. The same CR7 which, according to the ‘Corriere della Sera’, did not like the constant invitations to training: “Play two touches, play two touches“.

Sarri’s lack of feeling with the veterans, reports ‘La Stampa’, is also highlighted by the relationship that never took off with Andrea Barzagli. Initially the former defender was one of Sarri’s assistants, only to then decide to leave Juventus, officially to spend more time with his family.

Yesterday, the company’s decision to end the relationship after just one season. With a championship won, but also with a lot of friction in the locker room. Compromising on some details was not enough: Juventus will restart without Sarri.
