Despite introducing some magnetic accessories, Samsung has remained largely silent on the Galaxy S25 series being Qi 2.1 compatible. The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are pioneering devices in the realm of wireless charging technology, as the first to support the Qi 2.1 standard, though they do not offer any notable improvements in charging speed.
The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has officially certified the Galaxy S25 lineup for Qi 2.1 compliance. This certification makes Samsung’s latest smartphones the second, and currently the only, Android devices supporting Qi 2.0.0 and beyond, following the HMD Skyline. Most other Android smartphones, including recent releases, are still using the older Qi 1.3.3 standard.
The Benefits of Qi 2.1 in the Galaxy S25 Series
Currently, the primary benefit of Qi 2.1 support is Samsung’s marketing of its own magnetic accessory cases. These cases ensure perfect coil alignment, enabling customers to use Qi 2 and MagSafe accessories seamlessly. Additionally, some third-party manufacturers have developed Qi 2.1-compatible cases for the Galaxy S25 series, broadening the range of options available.

Notably, there is no significant increase in charging speeds with the adoption of Qi 2.1. The WPC specifies a maximum charging speed of 15W for the Galaxy S25 series, which is consistent with most standard Qi chargers regardless of whether they support Qi 2 or not.
Considering a Purchase
